Tiger Beach, an area located off the West End of Grand Bahama Island, is known for its clear blue water, sandy bottom and population of big sharks. You can cage dive with tiger sharks, reef sharks, lemon sharks and even the occasional hammerhead. No dive certification is necessary. A hookah air system is used and cage divers are under the close supervision of a dive professional.

New Six Gill Shark Adventure

Great July Day at Tiger Beach

Dive Instructor (and Marine Biologist, and incredible underwater photographer) Matt called from the Bahamas yesterday to tell us it was another great day at Tiger Beach. He and IA’s shark divers spotted one tiger shark and several lemon sharks.

Great White Shark Sighted at Stinson

There’s no swimming at Stinson Beach near San Francisco this week. Authorities spotted a great white shark swimming 200 to 300 years off the beach.

We love news reports of early shark sightings near San Francisco. It’s a sign it’ll be a great season of shark diving at the Farallon Islands.

Spend a day at legendary Tiger Beach with SharkyJill, IA’s incredible shark-loving dive instructor. Cage dive with tiger sharks, lemon sharks and more, under Jillian’s watchful eye. Our next dives are slated for May 21st and June 25th. No prior dive experience is necessary.

We recently caught a bit of heat for offering only cage dives, but we stand by our decision to keep all divers safely within the confines of our shark cage. A shark cage allows divers to focus solely on having a great time and taking great photos and eliminates the need to be constantly aware of one’s surroundings. Sharks aren’t maneaters, out to chomp on unsuspecting divers, but accidents can and do happen in the water. We believe it’s better to be safe than sorry. Plus, by using a shark cage, we make it possible for even inexperienced divers and snorkelers to experience the thrill of seeing a shark in the wild.

Bahamas Dive Dates Announced

Shark Guy Joe Deppen has joined IA’s Adventure Team and will be leading IA’s Tiger Shark Adventure in the Bahamas on Saturday, February 26th. Joe has a degree in Marine Biology and has been part of several shark research projects. In his non-adventure life, Joe works for Aquarius, an underwater lab in Key Largo, Florida. If you can’t make the February trip with Joe, you can join him in the Bahamas for our April 2nd Tiger Beach trip.

Sharky Jill is heading off to Australia for an underwater film shoot, but she’ll be back and ready to lead a May 21st shark adventure.

January Proves Sharky

We’re pretty sure a certain young man will never forget the birthday gift he received this year. He got to spend an incredible day with his dad diving with sharks at Tiger Beach.

According to IA Dive Instructor Jillian Morris, the day couldn’t have been more perfect. She called from Grand Bahama to report she counted 15 lemon sharks and one very big tiger shark.

If you’d like to dive with sharks, our next trip is set for Saturday, February 26th.

Dive Tiger Beach in February

Our next Tiger Shark Adventure in the Bahamas is set for Saturday, February 26th. Our boat will depart from Old Bahama Bay Marina for Tiger Beach, the underwater playground of big tiger sharks, reef sharks and lemon sharks. The cost to cage dive is $875 and topside viewers pay $375. No dive experience is required. The trips are led by Jillian Morris, a certified dive instructor and shark naturalist.

Old Bahama Bay Marina is located on the West End of Grand Bahama Island. The nearest “big city” is Freeport. Several major airlines fly into Freeport, or you can catch a daily cruise ship from Ft Lauderdale, Florida to Port Lucaya.
